Wed Post #2: Covering your tracks?

Is there a mad scramble on right now to remove some of the evidence about MAC Marketing Solution's Administrative Assistant Amanda Lee?

Yesterday we showed you Amanda's Facebook page which shows that there is an Amanda Lee who works at MAC Marketing Solutions. She bears a striking resemblance to the Amanda Lee who was profiled in numerous TV news pieces on the weekend. In those stories we were told she was  a young Asian buyer of real estate at a development promoted by MAC Marketing Solutions.

No mention was made in the newscasts that she actually worked for the company.

As several faithful readers have pointed out, it seems that her Facebook profile has undergone a 'cleansing'.

Gone is the reference to her current employer MAC Marketing Solutions (replaced by her former workplace). She has also removed her profile picture as well as public access to her photo albums.

Amanda's LinkedIn profile still shows up, a profile linking her to both MAC Marketing Solutions and to the very Maddox condo development where she was portrayed as an overseas buyer...

It will be interesting to see how long before that is changed as well.

Does it serve as confirmation that the Facebook Amanda Lee (employee of MAC Marketing Solutions) is the same Amanda Lee presented to the media as an eager Asian customer for their condo development?

On another interesting note, the google search link to this LinkedIn profile doesn't lead to a profile anymore:

I'll let you draw your own conclusions.

  1. This is so pathetic...

On the other hand, we can be satisfied by the fact that, after all, the messages displayed on local RE blogs are now spreading way beyond the local bear community. Quite encouraging in fact.

  2. Makaya... this makes pathetic look like a virtue.

  3. Good work capturing/documenting all the evidence before it disappears!

  4. Now we know none of the innocent ( but unlikely ) explanations were true.

The worst suspicions have been confirmed by this.

  9. Who wouldn't want to be on TV? For a young person it might even be fun to be on TV for any reason. All of TV is fake so let's not drag this poor girl through the mud. Yes Reality TV is fake. Yes the news is fake!! Why not pick on the true target like MAC marketing and the media? Stop bullying and ruining the reputation of this poor girl who made a bad judgement. Give her the benefit of the doubt. What would you do in her shoe and how would you feel now that it has all unfolded. She could suffer severely for this while her bosses at MAC etc won't even bat an eye.

  10. Whisperer,

Seriously... wouldn't this be an ideal story for Business Insider? Why don't you send it to them? They usually run screamer headlines like: It's happening again! 5 lies developers tell the media to push Vancouver real estate to the brink. Hint: You've seen this movie before. Then part II: The cover up. Social media goes missing.

I think Blodget will be interested because he's covered our market before. And I think once the story leaves your site for his site, it becomes news in Canada. Don't wait for the CBC.

    1. Why would this be shameful for the Asian Community? The perpetrators are not all Asians. In fact, the Asian community should be upset with MAC Marketing for using a traditional celebratory occasions of New Year to turn it into a money grab.

  13. MAC Marketing Solutions has posted the following on their Facebook wall. I asked them to respond to the allegation on this blog.

    This is what they wrote:

"Chinese New Year is indeed a busy time across many of our communities. Last year at Maddox we experienced increased sales volume during our Chinese New Year efforts and this year have already sold a number of homes with several more expected. We do admit we should have been more transparent about the fact that a MAC Marketing Solutions employee was included in this story. We apologize for any misunderstanding that this may have resulted in."
